Ms. Parker continues to delight and entertain with her Sugawara series. Excellent characterisation, plot and conclusion. Thoroughly recommend. Word of warning ! don't start reading after 10.00 pm ...you'll still be reading at 3.00 in the morning, they are that good. Seek out the others in the series, you won't be disappointed.

IF YOU LOVE JAPAN,THEN THIS IS FOR YOU,IF YOU LIKE A GOOD MYSTERY,THEN THIS FOR YOU.IJ PARKER PUTS THE READER BACK IN EARLY JAPAN, THE WHOLE SERIES IS LIKE THIS,I DO NOT WISH TO SAY TO MUCH ABOUT THE STORY ,IT MAY SPOIL IT FOR YOU.A MUST READ,AWAITING THE NEXT BOOK.happy reading.

I just love this series of books even more so than Paul Doherty's excellent Amerotke novels. I will not comment on the story in case it spoils the plot for other readers but all I can say is that these books are just perfect for wrapping yourself up in your quilt switching off the phone and losing yourself in the wonderful setting of Heian Japan. Read them from the beginning starting with The Dragon Scroll, you won't be disappointed.
