Book Description

30 Mar 2011
The author of the innovative sex and marriage blog "Married Man Sex Life" brings together his edgy and brilliant advice in a single volume primer delivering the motherload of substance. The Married Man Sex Life Primer 2011 cherry picks the best ideas of books like "The Mystery Method," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," and the volatile online world of the Pickup Artist a.k.a. "Game" community and merges them with a solid grounding in evolutionary psychology, sociology, biology and behavior modification. The result is a simple, effective plan for men to create sexually exciting marriages for themselves and their wives. The opening covers the underlying ancient "hard-wired" biological and modern social reasons women find men attractive. Athol pulls no punches here and the sexual motivations of women are laid bare. Though rather than framing women as sexually devious and seeking to advantage themselves over men, he explains how their sexual behavior is entirely rational in nature and once understood as such, it becomes very useful information. The second part of the book takes the framework developed in the first part and offers a wealth of tools to put it to practical use. The most important tool is The Male Action Plan, which charges the husband with the task of becoming a better, sexier man and thereby leveraging his increased attractiveness for a better sex life with his wife. As Athol says, "whoever is the most attractive in the relationship is in charge." The third part of the book is a treasure trove of playful sexy and romantic moves women will find charming and engaging. It's clear that Athol could have a harem of young ladies, but here he displays an endless variety of playful instigation to continually charm just one. The final section is a catchall of serious topics on what not to do, how to choose a wife, the current state of marriage law and a crushingly simple approach to dealing with being cheated on. (Want a better man? Leave it where he can find it.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Every man should read it. 15 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Men are continually told be good and kind to their wives if they want a healthy relationship and while this is partially true, being a servant and doormat will eventually lead to the wife losing her attraction for her husband. Women are attracted to strong men and bad boys, but want to have relationships with kind caring men. You need to mix strong leadership (alpha) behaviour with kind caring (beta) behaviour - neither on their own will work, you must blend the both if you want to bond AND maintain the physical attraction.

What this book does, and it does it really well, is to give strong leadership skills for those husbands who are toobeta, and kindness and caring skills for those men who are too alpha.

I've found the book very useful, it's helped my relationship with my independent feminist wife no end (she loves it when I am alpha).

Athol also runs a blog and forum with advice for both men and women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, eye-opening advice. 3 Jan 2013

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book runs through the authors thoughts on attraction within a marriage, and how this can be either improved or eroded by your actions - however well intentioned.

Key are the subconscious evolutionary mechanisms behind our actions, as well as the differences between how our instincts and society tell us to treat (and be treated by) a mate. Despite the previous negative review, there are no mind-games within this book - just an honest and well thought out appraisal of the dynamics of a marriage.

Athol Kay explains and advises in a playful, informal style, without losing the vital importance of the subject. The advice is sage and the suggestions are practical.

This book has helped me immensely by giving me an insight into what's really going on. I'm buying a copy for a friend who's getting married. They should hand these out along with the certificates.

There's a whole side to relationships which I didn't understand until I read this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I thought it would be 7 April 2013
I have been going through a separation and a number of people recommend I read this book. I was also aware of the 'MAP' (Male Action Plan) that the book advocates, prior to reading it.

I think the way the book had been spoken about in reverential tones affected my view of it as the general feeling I had was it was good in parts, but could have been a lot better. Let me elaborate by saying that the concept of sex-ranking and how this affects relationships is covered very well and explained in great detail. The general MAP principles are also covered (but not in as much detail as I thought they would be). Some of the sections talking about why affairs happen was again fine. For this kind of book I quite liked the structure also, very short chapters made it easy to read and made it feel a bit more like a reference guide, which it is of course.

But there were problems also. I felt the authors tone at times came across a little smug, especially when crowing about how wonderful his sex life is with his wife. I feel there were far too many sections dedicated to his own techniques in seducing his wife, sending suggestive texts or co-ercing her to try different things in bed (which she always loves of course!). I think some of the sections are not well understood by the author either - the one that jumped out was in relation to polyamory or the swinging lifestyle...these get lumped in together by the author when they are completely different things altogether. His points in this section may have been relevant to polyamory but not to swinging, where the 'sex-rank' is irrelevant as the activity is undertaken by the couple together and no emotional connections are made.

Has made a big difference to my life. Worth the money and paid for itself immediately.
I haven't followed word for word, as you have to interpret it to your own relationships, but the ideas can be adapted.

1.0 out of 5 stars Honest reviewer 26 July 2012
This will not improve your marriage! If you respect yourself or your wife, then please don't buy this book. It's preaches domination, mind games and lies as a way of maintaining a healthy marriage. My husband bought it and we neatly ended up divorced. There are far better ways to be a better husband. Don't buy it!!
(had to give it one star because there wasn't an option to give none!)
