The collection contains only 2 lectures - Marx and DaVinci - and, while brilliantly well observed, the price is very steep for just 1hrs listening enjoyment.
These details should have been made clear when ordering.

Absolutely brilliant - if I could have had Mark Steel for my history or politics teacher at school instead of some dry old goat going on and on about the spinning jenny then i would have taken history and politics immediately. Alas this is not the case, but sitting and reading Mark's diatribe's about various folk is superb - and don't forget the little asides and comedy to keep it light hearted and yet interesting. Never thought I'd get so excited or interested in the French Revolution and his bit on Jazz is fabulous. WELL WORTH THE MONEY SPENT!!!

I must admit straight away I don't have a cassette or CD version of this BUT I heard it on Radio 4 and I thought his way of describing the famous people was hilarious.
I learnt alot about these historic figures (I'm quite young) although, I don't want you to think if it interests the young it has to be boring for the adults. YOU WILL find it very funny and you'll learn how although each person was great, there were rumours about them and certain characteristics that meant one of them couldn't for instance do lectures very well and so he bored the students to death even though his theory was ground-breaking.
Along with comic sketches about the historic figures it's very interesting.
I don't understand what the other reviewer meant by just 2 lectures on only audio cassette but if all lectures are included it's worth the money. Just look at the sales rank.
