The book is beautiful, this includes the cover, the arabic calligraphy, the decorative borders, the poetry itself and the praise of the Prophet's qualities that a beleiver would hope to emulate. As the book mentions, 'How can his reality be grasped by people who are asleep, distracted from him by dreams'
While for me the Qasida Burdah's spiritual benefit sags in some parts, the addition of other poetry of a similar theme to every line of the Qasidah burda means that almost every page is delightful.
This is a book to feed the spirit with love, for those thirsty from mechanised/politicised forms of islam.
It infuses the remembrance and love of the beloved into every day life;
'And I never resolved to drink water,
when I was athirst
But I saw an image of Thee
in the cup'.
