5.0 out of 5 stars Man-made global warming is a myth ? 5 April 2002
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
This book exposes the fact that 'environmental correctness' is not based on actual science. Global warming may well not be man-made after all - this book sets out a plausible alternative based on scientific observation rather than soundbites and intellectual arrogance.

I had always assumed that the powers-that-be were working diligently in my best interest, especially when it came to the environment and related science. But as I got closer and closer to these (environmental) high priests of arrogance I became increasingly dismayed and, in some cases, outraged. I have now come to recognize that whenever I cannot correlate the (environmental) policies forced upon the world versus objective, observable, repeatable scientific facts; the only explanation lies in what I call the Evil Triad : Money-Fame-Power.

But now here comes Nigel Calder and his magnificant work THE MANIC SUN. Nowhere had I read such a thorough compendium on the truth regarding global climatic change, and its historical origins, not in the burning of hydrocarbon fuels, but in the rampant unbridled power of Sol, our sun. As simple as the statistical tool of correlation, and yet as complex as the process of cloud formation, the true basis of climate change comes alive in Calder's THE MANIC SUN. Nowhere prior to my reading of THE MANIC SUN had I ever imagined that the high-priced, highly promoted computer climate models that were forever chasing the observed atomospheric data and records, and never successfully predicting anything, other than another go at Congressional budget committees, did not bother to include "esoteric entities" such as clouds(? ). And yet that is just what the Greenhouse priesthood has been doing all along. Unlike the march toward the new pagan religion demanded of us by the Greenhouse powers-that-be, Calder offers a lucid, objective, high correlation value explanation of how our sun is the master of our weather, and always has been. Based on the latest solar science and atomospheric observations, THE MANIC SUN should be demarked as the first truly layperson-friendly turning point in the public debate over climate change.

Unlike their political control over your minds and votes and wallets, the Greenhouse Industry will be hard-pressed to convince you that any change in your human behavior is going to have a lasting effect on the sun, and therefore they are rife with plans to keep you in the cold (?) about THE MANIC SUN. An example includes how the powers-that-be in the US refuse to allow publication of THE MANIC SUN here. That fact should give you pause.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding piece of scientific review 28 Oct 2004
By shufti
Format:Hardcover
Global warming may well be a scientific fact but the causes of it are a long way from being known for certain. The idea that the phenomenon is man-made is a scientific opinion - NOT a fact.

This book puts forward the most plausible and factual explanation of global warming currently available.

There has been so much money been invested in the man-made theory that it will take time for Mr Calders scientific arguments to surface but I believe in 10-20 years time - the cosmic flux will in the end be proved to be the major cause of global warming.
