Howard has made an excellent attempt to describe and give advice on the process of conducting a research. He classifies research from four different point of views i.e. the field of research, the purpose of research, the approach of research and the nature of research.
Howard then goes on to explain how it is possible to gather and analyse data efficiently, how to deal with unexpected problems, how to write-up a dissertation and present findings in a suitable manner, how to cite references and finally how to collaborate with the research project supervisor effectively throughout the duration of the research.
Moreover, techniques for generating research topics are explained e.g. relevance trees and morphological analysis. There are also many project management illustrations present in the book e.g. PERT diagram, network activity diagram, Gannt chart/bar chart, flowchart.
I highly recommend the book to postgraduate students and academics.
