Well, admittedly the first time I watched it I thought the film itself wasn't the most riveting film I have watched, however Billy's performance is truly mesmerizing - Billy is exactly how you would expect him to behave in everyday public.
However I have since watched the film at least 8 more times in the space of 12 weeks and each time, I still thoroughly enjoy Billy. The film itself continues to grow on me and the storyline is cracking (this coming from a legal background!).
If you like Billy, buy it. If you aren't a huge fan, then rent it before buying it. It you are in a passing phase of Billy Connolly comedy, don't buy it because it will not meet your expectations of a great film.

This for me is Billy Connolly at his best. Bad language from the start - but what else can you expect, apart from brilliant acting. An excellent, imaginative and very thought provoking storyline. A must for all Billy Connolly fanatics and a must for all doubters of insurance companies. Highly funny, certainly one of the best i've seen in a while - great entertainment.

To coin a phrase - 'And now for something completely different'! This is a highly entertaining, fine-tuned Rom/Com among the best of its genre. I have the impression this is a 'custom made' role for Billy Connolly and he plays the character with much relish, zest and his customary zeal as the man who decides 'To Sue God' after his fishing boat is destroyed by a fluke lightning bolt and the insurance company, concerned, steadfastly refuse to pay out, as the highly unfortunate and most regrettable loss of his boat [hence his livelihood] is declared an 'Act of God'. It is a film that goes along at a jolly pace and the storyline soon has you in the corner of Billy Connolly and his journalist associate Jenny Davis, who form an ulikely alliance, as they strive to achieve justice, not only for the loss of his [beloved] fishing boat but for all the other parties who have lost homes, livelihoods, property and suffered heavy financial losses due to the 'Act of God' cited in the insurance policies.

A number of the scenes are absolutely classic Billy Connolly and this content would not, perhaps, be to the taste of the viewer who would be grossly offended by Mr. Connolly's traditional and highly prolific use of numerous expletives but as is amply demonstrated by his usual manner he somehow executes and manages to carry it all off with his customary aplomb and found these scenes to be among the most hilarious!

In the main a light-hearted, fun, frolic that proves heart-warming and uplifting as the film concludes with a touching scene in the courtroom. This film, I believe, makes its point well and there are good moral messages underpinning the plot of the story. If you should be looking for some escapism and are in the mood to get back at the 'system' this would be a higly entertaining and amusing movie to put on, to sit back, watch, relax and enjoy!

Billy Connolly takes his out spoken wit to film. The film is a little far fetched but makes you think it could happen and then makes you think why has it not happened yet... Let's all sue god!!! It's an easy film to watch with no twists or turns but still well worth watching. Billy's character is all you'd expect, blunt, brash and very likeable. And the rest of the cast work well together. I would stongly recommend buying this movie or at least renting it out.

This is exactly what you would expect from Billy in a film. Blunt, down to earth humour played through a heart warming character. The interactions between the characters are so well played that you can imagine they are a real dysfunctional family rather than a group of actors. The scenery is spectacular and although the story may seem a litle far fetched, it is everything the Connolly fan could hope for. I loved this film.

This would have been a 3 star film for me if it hadn't have been for Billy and his fantastic screen presence, and the concept of the little man fighting against corporate dogma.

The film is a bit cheesy and sometimes comes across as transparent, but the film is saved by a fantastic performance by Billy Connolly. He really is a great actor, and a comedy role is perfect for him. He is rude and loud - but incredibly likeable as he represents part of us all.

If he didn't appear in the film then I don't feel this would be as popular as it is. I certainly couldn't see myself giving it 4 stars if that was the case.

Yes, it feels overly moralistic at points, yes it feels like it could have pushed a bit further with it's questioning of how unfair insurance companies treat their customers. And yes, it's not a film that'll change your life - but it has some lovely moments and an unmissable performance from one of Scotland's most loved performers.

Saw this by mistake when someone else in the house rented it. Kinda got hooked right at the beginning and I just couldn't walk away. It really had me laughing out loud, and I don't usually. Very funny film with a very valid point.

End was a little cheesy but I'm willing to forego 5 minutes of cringing at the end to enjoy an hour and a half of great humour.

Really good film, entertaining and very interesting ! I don't understand how the act of god clause still exists after some of the points brought up in this!
