Product Description

Product Description

If you think the idea behind the title of this book is a good one, think again. It describes what happened when Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists won the British General Election in 1935.

The first and most obvious result was the creation of a British government allied to Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperial Japan, forming a huge global power bloc with common aims and ambitions and the military strength to achieve them. The world we know today does not exist and the truth about the moral vacuum we inherited in its place is hidden from the mass of ordinary people.

Totalitarian states write their own histories, travesties of the facts designed to hide their own culpability for crimes used to justify the destruction of their enemies. This is one such history. It throws real people and events and into a blender with fictional ones, although a surprising amount of the truth survives. Decide for yourself which is which but above all be aware that the world it describes is a place where the most offensive beliefs have become accepted norms, where intolerance is taught in the schools, where the evils of the past are cloaked in euphemism and where the memory of good people is reviled.

Reviews by authors and editors:

'A hugely impressive achievement … extremely convincing and very intricately stage-managed.'

'Written with consummate skill. Completely original.'

extremely original style you have to remember how a history book would have been written if the axis had won the war - well done Roy Carter!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised 8 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was expecting a half-baked alternative history, but much to my surprise and delight the book turned out to a very convincing and well thought out history of a Britain ruled by Mosley. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling 21 Feb 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed reading this, very few cliches, a fascinating alternative history. You can always pick holes in these things but this one is entertaining and is even relatively free of the usual obligatory references and characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 5 Feb 2013
By Gobberz
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an excellent book that looks at the possibilities of what could have happened of Mosley and his fascists had got into power. It gives a clear insight into how things could have turned out - though I am not sure *Spoiler* if Stalin would have risked flying to the UK which is under a racist, anti-communist regime. He would of at least guessed what could happen if he went even if, he wished to look at peace for his own goals.

The book doesn't go into detail of what happened to Stalin but, it's all part of the mystery of it.

Well worth the price and hope there will be a second part.

I enjoy a good "what if " book and this one, if a bit far fetched, was well written and not completely unthinkable like others I have read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Horrific Alternate Reality 7 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was detailed and amazingly interesting. It wasn't a handful of 'What Ifs', it was possibly the worst What If that could ever be imagined. And that was what made it so great, the fact that it was such an awful alternate reality.
If you love alternate history, you've never read anything as awfully alternate as this!

Personally I think that Hitler would have had Mosley exterminated for being to big a threat. Mosley was would not have settled for such a minor part in a vast empire.
