I got "turned on" to Paul Burke through reading "Father Frank" which is a superb tale. This is the sequel and is even better! It's a story which is written in such a way that you keep thinking "I know someone just like that!" or "Hey! that's exactly how I feel" except that it's also witty, sharp and full of comments which bring out the third thought "Damn, I wish I'd said that!" This is one of the very few books which has had me laughing out loud and also one of the few which has made me take a pause to think without being sugar sweet or romantically sloppy. Having read a lot recently, this book stands out and as such I must avoid going over-the-top in its praise but it really is tempting! I won't divulge any of the storyline, which is marvellous, or give away any of the t'riffic humour, but can really recommend this as a great read.
