In this delightful book Maxim Jakubowski has done a good job of putting across the main features of the famous Kama Sutra, perhaps the most well known and most misunderstood two words in the Sanskrit language.
The original is so much more than just a list of sexual positions, it is a guide to being with another person, and touches on many aspects of relationships. It is also a rather beautiful piece of art, with delightful stories that illustrate the various instructions held therein. In this tome Jakubowski has concentrated on the positions aspect, and most of the book is a collection of these taken from various sources. In addition, however, there is a well written introduction going through the history of the Kama Sutra and an overview of the entire book, which gives a good feel for the scope and intention of the original. As well as beautifully written descriptions of each position, packed full of good advice, there are also line sketches of each (which are sometimes a little hard to make out), and many delightful stories. It is in no way crude or lascivious, but very tastefully done.
It is a work of beauty that will both entertain and instruct. There is a wealth of advice for lovers, and I can say from experience that it will vastly enrich your love life. From the simple eroticism of reading it together, the laughter as you try to assume some of the positions to the intense physical pleasure that following the advice can bring, it works on so many levels to bring you and your partner closer together.
