Book Description

24 Mar 2011 Mammoth Books
How will the King of Vampires adapt to the social and technological changes brought by the twenty-first century? Could the Count's condition be cured by modern medicine? How does the mythology perpetuated by literature and movies affect the existence of a real bloodsucker? What if Dracula found himself ruler of a world controlled by vampires? Or perhaps political and ecological catastrophe will result in the Count's final destruction? This tribute to the world's greatest vampire collects together more than 200,000 words of "Dracula" fiction by masters of dark fantasy such as: Hugh B. Cave, R. Chetwynd-Hayes, Basil Copper, John Gordon, Brian Hodge, Nancy Holder, Nancy Kilpatrick, Roberta Lannes, Thomas Ligotti, Paul J. McAuley, Nicholas Royle, Guy N. Smith and many more. It also includes a brand new story from Charlaine Harris.

This book is just what you would expect from the Mammoth Book of... series. Tons of stories packed into one volume. Great value, some top quality writing and a nice mixture of tradition and innovation.

5.0 out of 5 stars vampire things 16 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback
the mammoth book of dracula ranging from original bram stoker to good spoofs and vampire fighters in a world of vampire rulers from deathless dracula fighting the nazis (twice) to post nuclear war vampires shows that fundamentally vampire tales are a one trick pony but is well told and great with it

4.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Collection 24 Mar 2006
By Sidharth Chatterji - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A very interesting collection of stories , including some very rare material by Bram Stoker not to be found anywhere else i.e. the original theatrical play based on 'Dracula'. However I would recommend this as a follow up to the classic "Mammoth Book of Vampire Stories" in the same series which is an absolute MUST READ for any vampire fiction / horror fiction fan

4.0 out of 5 stars Got it for the Newman story, but enjoyed the rest also. 23 Mar 1999
By John D Lewallen Jr - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I do not consider myself to be a big Horror fan. I have read all of Lovecraft's works, and recently have been enjoying Kim Newman's Anno Dracula series. A comment that Newman posted on this site led me to get this book for his story, "Coppola's Dracula." That was definitely my favorite story in the book, but I was pleasantly surprised that most of the other stories were decent as well. Like almost all anthologies, there are some stories that were not so hot, but there were no absolute clunkers, in my view. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys horror fiction, whether they are a long-time fan, or a relative new-comer like I am.
4.0 out of 5 stars A must for fans of The Count 8 Jan 2013
By Story-Reviewer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
There are many, many books out there that deal with Bram Stoker's timeless creation, Count Dracula, but this is truly one of the best. In terms of value for money, this is, hands down, one of the largest volumes out there. And as for the quality of the stories contained within these pages, well, they are hard to beat.

With such masterpieces of short horror fiction as Ramsey Campbell's brilliant CONVERSION, Basil Copper's WHEN GREEK MEETS GREEK, Kim Newman's awesome COPPOLLA'S DRACULA, Brian Mooney's ENDANGERED SPECIES, Graham Masterton's masterful ROADKILL, John Gordon's atmospheric masterpiece BLACK BEADS, and F. Paul Wilson's THE LORD'S WORK, you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

Also recommended: Midnight Mass by F. Paul Wilson, a great twist on the vampire novel, Whitby Vampyrrhic by Simon Clark, a masterful Gothic horror novel, and Phantasms: A Novel by A. Kale, an imaginative and frightening tour de force, which features Count Dracula in a small but crucial part.
