Product Description

Product Description

New from the bestselling "Dr Gareth Moore," in full colour throughout, the truly fun way to a fitter brain. Traditional brain-training programmes tend to include a range of tasks which few of us would classify as 'fun', such as completing sheets of maths equations or remembering long lists of objects. Whilst these can certainly help to improve brain function, most of us would avoid such exercises so would not benefit from them. "The Mammoth Book of Fun Brain-Training" changes all that with an approach centred on fun, which nevertheless improves memory, logic and reasoning, visual and spatial awareness, word and language skills and maths skills. It contains nothing which smacks of 'school work'. Instead there are 'challenge' puzzles, often with a twist, which are both more entertaining and more effective from a brain-training point of view in that they call on multiple skills concurrently.

About the Author

Dr Gareth Moore writes the monthly magazine Sudoku Pro. His previous books include The 10-Minute Brain Workout, Kids' 10-Minute Brain Workout, The Book of Kakuro and The Mammoth Book of Brain Workouts. He is an expert in artificial intelligence and a Ph.D-qualified scientist from Cambridge University.

Brain Exercise 31 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
The book is full of different types of puzzles split into separate weeks over a twenty-four week period - getting harder as the weeks progress. Some are more challenging than others depending on what the individual is good at, and what they are not - numbers/words/reasoning etc. I have come across some of the actual types of puzzles in other publications so am familiar with them - Killer Sudoku, Kakuro, Bridges for instance - which makes them easier for me, however there are all sorts of different 'brain games' and it's an enjoyable workout. Don't particularly like the 'Creativity' part that appears at the end of each week, but then I'm not very creative so I guess that's the challenge!!
