This book provides a comprehensive listing of not only locations of Staffordshire's mammals, but useful information about each species. Each species is accompanied by a photo and line drawing (cutely showing a size comparsion against a champagne bottle or cork as appropriate!), information on size, status, distribution, history of surveying, threats, proposed work to build records, plus some interesting facts and local story. The distribution maps provide vital information on working out the likelihood of a species being in a particular area. The first edition also includes articles focussing on the otter, water vole, Daubenton's bat and water shrew (noting that later editions will feature other species). In the back is a brief pictorial depiction of how home or work gardens can help mammals. Beautifully produced, this is an excellent resource for any reader.
