About the Author

Kerry Tombs was born in Smethwick, near Birmingham, in 1945. After a career in teaching in both England and Australia, he moved to Malvern in 1982, where he became a local genealogist, lecturer and bookseller. He has set The Malvern Murders in a variety of Malvern locations including St.Ann's Well, Malvern College, the British Camp and the Priory Church - and in the nearby villages of Colwall and Mathon and town of Ledbury. Kerry Tombs has recently completed his autobiography 'Passing By' which mainly deals with his childhood in North Worcestershire in the 1950's - and has begun work on the sequel to the Malvern Murders, entitled The Worcester Whisperers. He now lives in Brittany in northern France.

Really enjoyed this book as I am interested in the Victorian period as I am employed @ Blists Hill Victorian town in Shropshire. It also helped that I know Malvern extremely well as I was born in Worcester nearby. Ravenscroft is a believable detective and I would gladly read more books from this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Malvern Murders Ravenscroft to the rescue 8 Nov 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A delightful read especially for those who come from around the Malvern/Ledbury area. The storyline is based on greed, corruption and revenge but the police characters live up to all expectations of Victorian Policing.
The mystery running through isn't revealed until almost the very end and even then there is a surprise which leaves the opportunity for a continuation of the chase. Wouldn't put the book down unless I really had to and would recommend this for anyone who is interested in Victorian Worcestershire with a hint of Whitechapel!

Found the story enjoyable and simple, got to get to know the characters yet. When I have read all the other stories I will I may give the author a higher rating. Would recommend.

I bought this because I know Malvern and I was interested to read a novel set there. The plot is reasonably good but I certainly didn't find it a gripping story. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars The book needs editing
This book is the worst I have read for not being able to tell a story succinctly. Plainly it was so badly edited that I could not read it for the errors and the lack of connection. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful editing!
This book was either not proof read or was badly edited leaving it with some howlers of spelling errors - "non" for none; "bare" for bear, etc. Read more
