This is a feel-good novel about one woman's journey of making her way in the magazine industry.
After being humiliated umpteen times by her boss and her colleagues, overweight Jo, decides it's time to get even.
The ultimate make-over makes Jo unrecognisable. Putting Garnet publishing out of business is Jo's main aim and she has that great feeling of getting her own back along the way. Jo is a bright likeable character with great determination and I really had to admire her. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a light easy read.

I'm not really a chick lit fan but this was a really good read.
Loved it. Perfect for holidays, long haul flights and poolside/beach. Jo was identifiable and portrayed in a sympathetic, believable way. Once started, I couldn't put the book down. Can't wait for more from Ms Fox.

I didn't have high expectations when I started reading Ilana Fox's Making of Mia, I just thought it would be a pretty standard chick lit novel but to my surprise I found it very hard to put down! The author grabs your attention from the start with a heroine who is down on her luck but also truly likeable, even when Jo becomes Mia you find yourself willing Jo's revenge on her bullies! I loved Fox's way of describing every detail and you can really visualise her characters! It really sucks you in and I read the whole thing in 2 days! I found it a lot more interesting and fresh than most of the generic novels with the same old story lines that I have read recently and if you like a good chick lit then you'll love this one! I'm really looking forward to reading her second book!
