The garden created by Rosemary Verey at Barnsley House, Gloucestershire, is one of England's finest and most famous. This is Rosemary Verey's personal tour of her garden, an account of the process of making it, including not only successes and the realization of dreams but also changes as the garden evolved. She explains different gardening skills, including creating an all-seasons garden, making a decorative vegetable garden, choosing the best bulbs, and placing focal points such as statues and fountains.

For much of her long life, Rosemary Verey (1919–2001) was one of England's most celebrated garden designers and garden writers. She created gardens for Elton John and the Prince of Wales. She died in 2001.

Tony Lord, photographer, writer and horticultural consultant, holds the Victoria Medal of Honour of the RHS. He has also won the Garden Writers' Guild Award for Best General Gardening Book.
