4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, yet Effective 6 Jan 2011
By Darcy
Format:DVD
A brilliant film which will have take you through different emotions, whilst at the same time it will keep you intrigued as to what happens next. The film centres on Raquel, brilliantly played by Catalina Saavedra, who has dedicated 23 years of her life working as a maid.

The film starts to pick up when a new maid is hired, therefore making Raquel feel insecure and she starts to implement basic tactics to get rid of her rival. The treatment that the second maid receives from Raquel will have you in stitches. Yet all changes on the arrival of the 3rd maid Lucy, who makes an effort to get to know Raquel and eventually builds a strong bond with her.

If you wish to see an intelligently put together film, that cleverly takes you through the basic human needs and desires, then you cannot go wrong by watching The Maid. Great performances by all involved!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting 29 Aug 2012

I found this movie funny, real and moving... The development of the story surprised me and it is not given for granted. I liked the insights on the main character but also on the rest of the family. I was happy to watch an unusual end, not too bitter but not the classic happy ending, something more realistic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Special Film 2 Oct 2012
Format:DVD
This a very human film about the life of a maid, a single woman with no where else to go after many years of service to a wealthy family. It well acted and sincere in it's ambition. It's the type of film that leaves an impression long after watching it. It's a story that Hollywood and all its clones could and should never make, they are simply not up to the task. A refreshing change in the mass production movie culture.
