1.0 out of 5 stars Why did I bother? 8 Feb 2006
Format:Audio CD
Like the previous reviewer, I bought this in a shop. I was hunting high and low for the original soundtracks to the Harry Potter films (and, incidently, having no luck whatsoever) when I stumbled across this in Woolworths. So overcome by joy was I that I had actually found something like what I was looking for, I went straight to the counter.
Three words:
Piece
Of
Tripe.
Why did I fall for it? There was, actually, a niggling little voice in the back of my mind saying: 'You know it'll be rubbish, don't get it. Just look at the cover. It's a cheep rendition of the real thing. Put it back on the shelf.' Like I so often do, I blanked the voice completely. I was playing it later in my room, and my eight year old sister entered, intrigued by the noise she had heard. 'Is this Harry Potter?' she asked.
'Yes.'
'It's rubbish.'
No truer word has ever been said by her. She even screwed her face up when she looked at the cover, only to ask me: 'Why did you get that?'
I wish I had the wisdom of a nine year old.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get tricked into buying this. 19 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
In case the lack of brand names or photos of the cast didn't make you suspicious already, this CD is not Harry Potter/Warner Bros. merchandise.
I picked this up in a shop because it was on sale for £3 and I was in a hurry. It claims to be 'the music from the movies' on the front cover but is not, in fact, 'the music you heard in the movies'.
If you like to hear soundtracks played by what sounds like a poor-quality synthesiser keyboard, you'll love this. Personally, I went to get my £3 refunded. They would have to pay me £3 to take it. I'd give it no stars (or a black hole to throw it into) if only it were possible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yuck, MIDI! Do not buy! 13 July 2009
Format:Audio CD
Like the other two writers, I bought this because it was amazingly cheap. In retrospect, I should have been more wary of the lack of official logos and the fact that there was no recognised orchestra on the cover.

Do not buy this CD!

1.0 out of 5 stars very disappointing 1 Aug 2005
By Sara L. Wing - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Promo says recorded by "Big Movie Orchestra" but it sounds more like a couple of synthesizers. The "strings" are OK but anything on brass or wind sounds AWFUL. Some tracks are not even on pitch. Seller would not refund, either - adding insult to injury! Now it's a handsome coaster for my desk!

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware! [No, I do not own this.] 24 Feb 2012
By Yu-Ten Lee - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Don't shoot me just yet! Even if I don't own this actual product, I recognize the style of the cover art, because the same "artist" (The "Big Movie Orchestra") did a similar album for the Star Wars films. And the experience was HORRIBLE.

Yes, as the other one-star reviewer said, this orchestra is really a bunch of synthesizers playing together. Actually, for all we know, it could be one very enterprising guy with a single synthesizer, a metronome, and a multi-track recorder. The TONE of the music is simply awful. I cannot say anything for how accurately these pieces were reproduced (I suspect these arrangements were not authorized by Williams, since the ones from the "Star Wars" album were DEFINITELY off) but I can safely guess that the tone of these is simply awful. It will sound nothing like a real, respectable orchestra and probably make your ears (if not your brain) melt at how un-magical it renders Williams' brilliant score.

Don't buy it! Don't buy it!

I've had my say; NOW you can start biting me and calling my review unhelpful and stuff.
