Book Description

When thirteen year old Abby pretends to take an interest in tropical fish to help her grieving father, she meets Kat Hatfield, the woman who owns the local tropical fish shop. From that moment, their lives will never be the same.

Kat has left a violent husband and is afraid to start a new relationship. With Abby's help, she learns how to leave the past behind.
Unfortunately, things don't go as smoothly as either Abby or Kat would have liked.

In this first novel, Linda Lewis uses her knowledge of tropical to great effect. Each chapter starts with a paragraph about fish that acts as an itroduction to what follows.

More About the Author

I write full time from my home in Leeds, having moved there from Devon in late 2009. My short stories appear in various magazines including My Weekly Yours and Ireland's Own.

My main market is Take a Break/Fiction Feast where I use the pen name, Catherine Howard. She was Henry VIII's fifth wife (she lost her head). Henry and I share the same birthday (28th June) plus a tendency to keep marrying the wrong people.

I have a column in Writers Forum called Short Story Success where I pass on tips and encourage other writers of short fiction.
Before switching to fiction, I spent several years writing about tropical fish (care, breeding, behaviour etc) for magazines in the UK, South AFrica and the USA.
LAst year I tookd a break from short stories to write non fiction. My latest book, THE WRITER'S TERASURY OF IDEAS was the result. It's a teach-yourself-how-to -come-up-with-ideas guide.

I also give talks, judge and organise short story competitions as well as offering writing lessons by email and running a critique servce. In 2012 I will be teaching at Swanwick and the NAWG Festival of writing. I'm also running a residential course in Leeds (I'm told the food is amazing!).
