Product Description

Synopsis

Loom-controlled doubleweave is explored in depth in this handbook of out-of-print articles from textile innovators, Weaver's and Prairie Wool Companion. Detailed instructions and gorgeous photographs illustrate how to design and weave 30 different projects including place mats, coverlets, jackets, bags, wall hangings, and throws using four- to sixteen-shaft looms. Instructions on the various ways to produce multiple layers with a loom - block-double weaves, stitched double cloths, and double-layered colour effects - are provided alongside basic and intermediate-level drafting illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring 8 Feb 2013
By Ellen
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book has given me so much inspiration, not only to weave the projects in it, but to use the ideas for new ideas developped from them. Very good ilustrations and very careful explanations of everything. My only regret is that quite a few of the drafts are for 16 shafts.

5.0 out of 5 stars lovely book, what every weaver needs! 10 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this because I am a weaver and wanted a book that detailed double weave, this does just that, it is great, it is very clear and easy to follow. It also has lots of different ideas for double weave weaving, suitable for all skill levels. Great book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners or owners of 4 shaft looms 5 Jan 2007
By Holly Wood - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Although the ideas look really neat, there are not many uses for someone with a 4 shaft loom (like me). More stuff for 8 shaft owners. I think some of the ideas could be adapted, if one were an experienced weaver. Certainly doubleweave is a technique that some might like to attempt, but this is not the book to start with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of Weaver's Double Weave 28 Feb 2008
By Ann M. Fisher - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have found all the Best of Weavers books to be extremely thorough and easy to follow in the instructions. The photograghy is wonderful. There are very creative projects that are inspirations in themselves and great for stepping stones to one's own creativity. These are probably the books I refer to the most for my weaving designs.

Excellent book, makes me wish that I had more shafts as a lot of examples use 12 or more, but it is highly recommendable, every weaver should have this in their library!!
