not the best Bruen 8 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
Love Bruen, but this was a bit of a disappointment. It missed the edginess and dark wit usually found in his other books.

Very Interesting 18 Jun 2011
Format:Paperback
I have only just started reading this author's novels and have read a few of the Jack Taylor's series. I think it is fantastic series which is new and different to much of what is out there. Jack Taylor is no one's idea of a hero and yet he uses his natural instincts to solve cases while slowly destroying his life. In this book he touches on the Magdelene laundrys as with many of his books he is not afraid to delve into difficult topics. He sets out in the book to find a woman who worked in the Laundry years ago but all is not what it seems. This forces him to change tactics. Overall this is a brilliant read.

Magdelen Martyrs 3 Feb 2004
Format:Paperback
At least the publishers managed to spell Pelecanos correctly in this book unlike the previous two in the trilogy.

Taylor is better in this book because he is more on the edge, unlike the previous two where he is just wallowing in self indulgence and self pity. All three suffer from the 'rabbit pulled out of the hat' at the last minute. Pelecanos deals with consequences as well as scenarios far more effectively
