By the time Lissa had made this recording, she had already played for a hundred dances, shared the stage with traditional music luminaries of all types, and travelled the world in search of her muse, wowing audiences in Ireland and Russia in the process. Amazing that she was still only 16 when she completed this project, with the assistance of an able crew of musicians, including bandmates and two of her mentors, Greg Boardman and David Kaynor. More amazing still is the depth of tone, the maturity and complexity of expression and composition (she has included a few of her own tunes here)--you'd not likely guess that Lissa was of such a tender age by listening to her.
Lissa has an amazing ability to synthesize the music in her life: she breathes in all kinds of fiddle style, and out comes nothing but her own unmistakable sound. From influences as diverse as Irish fiddlers Eileen Ivers and Liz Carroll, Scottish fiddler Alasdair Frazier, and Cape Breton superstar Natalie MacMaster, she has fashioned her own voice, truly original and inspirational. We should keep our ears open for any future work of this rising star!
