Nora Roberts knows how to show the inter-relationships of a powerful family. She knows how to relate the relationship between two independent but vastly different personalities between a brother and sister. She shows Shelby as the out going, extroverted go-getter talented woman that was affected by the same tragedy as her introverted, equally talented brother, Grant.

I found it very interesting the story about how both siblings found love in very different ways, but with the same result. They both had scars from their father's sudden death. She expertly showed that you can overcome these scars. The path that Shelby and Grant toke showed that you can love people and not be hurt the same way as you were in the past. Basically, the past can be a good teacher, but not necessarily the indicator of the future. Learn from the past, but don't repeat the same failings.

i did like the story of shelby and alan, the contrast between them worked wonderfully. but the second story was so dismal, i'm surprised that the same author wrote it! the mcgregor's were represented in such a stereotypical way that gave them no depth or emotion but made them act like puppets. the actual love story was a little far fetched and just seemed too unrealistic to work. i KNOW it's a love story and meant to take you into dream land but i actually ended up not liking either of the main characters. i absolutely loved her original mcgregors stories. serena and caine really took me into their stories, you felt you were right there with them, laughing together and crying togther. but i just did not care what happened to grant or gennie, the story just seemed superficial and a half hearted attempt by my favourite author. sorry!

True Nora Roberts! 10 Mar 1999

The MacGregors-Alan-Grant was a good book. I have to say the first story was very boring, but I gave it 4 stars because of "One Man's Art." Grant and Gennie were great!!! I agree with the first review: Grant's eyes were brown in one story and deep green in the next. Bear in mind that those two stories were written years ago, and were done separately. I have not read the first book "Serena and Caine" as of yet. I expect it will be very good.

ABSOUTLY GREAT
I love Nora Roberts and can't seem to read her books fast enough. Though I wish the stories would have been longer and found them both great and can't wait to read her next book.
