Weaving together many an element of myth and legend and bringing them into the modern day with remarkable dexterity, the author enables the reader to suspend his disbelief in this fantasy adventure. On reaching Lands End I would now feel very little surprise to find the misty, low lying land of Lyonesse reaching out before me.
Craig Weatherhill's love for all things Cornish translates perfectly into The Lyonesse Stone. The book contains illustrations by the author himself, the artwork capturing key moments in the text which only add to the depth of detail he has gone to in this reimagining of Cornish myth. The novel itself is probably most at home in the children's or young adult category, but don't let that dissuade any fantasy loving adult from giving it a go. The narrative is well rounded and skims along at a breathtaking pace. There really is never a dull moment.
