I have purchased hundreds of books from Amazon over the years, but this is the first time I have been inspired to write a review. This book is brilliantly written and, in two words, "absolutely fantastic"!
It contains mouth watering recipes plus, best of all, amazing trivia and super pictures which give some insight about one Britain's oldest and best-loved brands. This hardback book looks and feels high quality, much in line with the green and gold tin.
I have since purchased a couple of the other Paul Hartley books in this series, but this one remains my favourite.
A few friends will find this book in their Christmas stocking this year.

I hadn't realised that you could make so many different things with Lyle's Golden Syrup - but I do now! Usually I am slightly suspicious about books like this - they tend to just try to sell you whatever product the book is about. But having made a few of the recipes I have to say, not only are they delicious, but the golden syrup really does add to the taste. There are loads of different types of recipes too, from things that I'd expect, like Coconut and Cranberry Flapjacks to my favorite, Roasted Lamb with Crushed Rosemary Glaze - so well worth buying!

I often used to have Lyles Golden Syrup on toast when I was younger as my mum always had it in the cupboard, but I never got in the habit of buying it myself once I'd left home, because I rarely had time for breakfast and it therefore didn't seem worth buying a whole tin.
Got given this book as a present and have now discovered it's not just good on toast, you can use it in loads of things - the flapjacks etc are fairly obvious, but things like the kebab recipes work really well too, and the smoothie recipe is fantastic. Haven't worked my way through all of the recipes yet, but now that I've realised it's not just something to put on your toast I'll be making a lot more interesting things with it!
