Book Description

5 Feb 2010
Romance writer, Libby Small, has just been dumped. By her agent, her publisher and now her husband and she's finally had enough. So she's over the moon when she's given the opportunity to ghostwrite a novel for ex Miss Ireland, Lulubelle Ryan. Particularly as it means travelling around the world as part of Lulubelle's entourage. Two months to write a raunchy bonk buster set in the glitzy world of modelling should be easy - right? Wrong! Especially when it becomes very clear to Libby that the story behind this book is very close to Lulubelle's heart for a reason. There are some benefits though - and Lulubelle's handsome and enigmatic manager, Leo, is certainly part of the attraction - if only Libby could forget about her other male addiction.

'The subsequent shenanigans guarantee another hit for Irish writer Sarah'
--Peterborough Evening Telegraph

Book Description

Two months to write a raunchy bonkbuster set in the glitzy world of modelling should be easy. Right? Wrong! Life can’t get much worse for romance writer Libby Holliday. She’s been dumped by her agent and her publisher, and now she’s discovered her fiancé, Jeremy, is seeing their mutual friend, the shameless Ruth-Ann, behind her back. So when broken-hearted Libby’s offered the chance to ghost-write a novel for model and reality show darling, Lulubelle Ryan, she leaps at the chance. Lulubelle is in the middle of filming a new TV show about plastic surgery – which means five star travel for her entourage to San Francisco, Paris and Antigua. And even better, Libby’s best friend spiky-mouthed journalist, Celeste O’Connor, is coming along for the ride. Lulubelle proves to be the diva of divas, but there are some benefits – her handsome and enigmatic manager, Leo, to name just one. If only Libby could forget about her other male addiction . . . --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clever and witty 27 Nov 2010

The basic premise of The Loving Kind is a bit far-fetched - or maybe it's not, in this day of supermodels and actors who are also "authors". But I'll hand it to Webb, she creates a cast of characters who are fun and just believable enough (without sacrificing the element of fun fantasy that fiction brings). Libby is a young chicklit author who has been dumped by her agent and publisher and cheated on by her fiance. She has no choice but to accept a gig ghostwriting for a famous glamor model, Lulabelle, who wants to "write a novel" (she's got all the ideas, just doesn't have the time to get it all on paper!) LIbby, along with her back-again agent and her loyal best friend embark on a globe-trekking trip with Lulabelle and her manager Leo. The serious side of the books is Lulabelle's addiction to physical perfection, which she pursues through a series of plastic surgery procedures. I'd give the book five stars, but it's a bit rough in spots - Webb's writing is perfection for 80% of the book, but suddenly you hit rough spots where the plot clunks or people act or speak in ways that don't ring true with their character. Even so, the overall book is a fun read!

I have loved a lot of Sarah Webbs books, but felt this very difficult to get through and did not have the liking for the heroine as I have had in a few of her other books.
