Product Description

Product Description

All was silent in the wood. Suddenly, out of the green, "Love-me! Love-me! Love-me!" called the Love-Me bird. There was no answer to her call. No matter how cosy her nest and no matter how glad-ragged and preened she is, the Love-Me bird can not attract a mate. It takes a wise old owl to educate Love-Me in the ways of true love. A wonderful book that celebrates with great warmth and wit a simple truth about love. " ...the funniest, wisest and most delightful picture-book I've seen for ages. It's a gem." - Amanda Craig, Independent on Sunday.

A heartwarming and emotionally uplifting story 15 Jan 2004
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The Love Me Bird by Joyce Dunbar is an endearing picture book story about a little Love-Me bird who just wants to be loved. So she sings her "Love me!" song all day, keeping poor Shut-Eye the owl awake. Yet no other bird comes... until the owl tells her a profound truth about love, and teaches her a new song: "Love you!" For a little bird can be both a "Love me!" and "Love you!" bird at the same time. A heartwarming and emotionally uplifting story, with simple and charming illustrations by Sophie Fatus, and especially delightful for celebrating Valentine's day -- anytime of the year!
Shoe Baby Sent Me 13 May 2012
By Ray - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
We picked up this book because we loved "Shoe Baby" and figured we'd give Dunbar another shot.

This is a very fun book to read aloud, if you are the kind of parent that likes to do the voices of the characters. The moral is probably lost on the age group that this book is intended for, but it's still a fun and mercifully short book for bedtime.

The illustrations are a very good match for the story.

Most important stat: it was in heavy rotation with my daughter when she was around 2-3 years old. It still gets the occasional dust-off for my 2-year-old son, but my daughter is now 6 and has outgrown it, except on occasion to read it to her brother.
Love-me is LOVELY 6 Feb 2012
By Christina Hetherington - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I don't understand why this book is out of print - it is just fantastic. I read it to my daughter last night and the message is just ringing in my ears all day today. If you want love, you need to give love. What a great message for kids and everyone else!
