This book offers a few new insights into the world of The Beatles most of which have since been covered with the Anthology and else where. What I felt as a let down thought was that the book was 80% John with very little affection or regard for the other 3 (especially poor Ringo!). I felt as thought the authors emotional ties to John clouded his perception of what had happened in the past and truly tainted his option of Paul, George & Ringo and subsequently the subject matter of the book.

Not a bad read although I hated the “The story, as told here for the first time…” leads.

A “For Fans Only” read, to be sure.

A good read. 27 May 2009
Format:Paperback
Like many Beatle fans, owning most of the books, I thought I'd heard it all before. After all, how many ways is there to tell a story like this one? I have to say that I found Peter Brown's book to be a good read, and i did actually enjoy reading something by one of the people who were actually there (and not too stoned to remember!) rather than the usual mish mash of speculation, half-truths and re-heated decades old interviews.

Of course, we know the story, and there's not a lot of new stuff. Having said that, lights DO get shone into corners that other books haven't dared to look into, and for that I'm glad I bought this book.

And has been forgotten in the Anthology.
I first got this book in a Flea market in Oxford. Needless to say that I sank into it and did not have a breath till I read the last sentence. By far, the best one I've ever read about them, tells you everything you need to know about The Beatles . Women, Drugs, India, Apple,Concerts, Money,Yoko Ono, splitting. Suddenly everything makes sense, it does not only gives you information about the facts, it allows you to find out who was who within the group and how they managed to be the greatest band ever.

Mr. Peter Brown is named on the Yoko and John Song ' Peter Brown Called to say you can make it ok.......' but I've never seen or heard his name anywhere else. Maybe they were not really happy with the book as it probably gives much more information than it should, but for all of us who never understood many of the things that were told about them, this book can bring a bit of light.

It's a shame you can only get it second hand. Unfortunately a friend borrowed it ages ago and I never got it back. Obviously this person is not longer invited to my birthday parties. If you are able to grab a copy keep it like a treasure I can tell you that you'll miss to review it from time to time
