By G. E. Harrison TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
This has been around as a bootleg for some time, a great radio broadcast from February 1972 featuring mainly Bonnie with Freebo on bass but also T. J. Tindle on lead guitar and John Davis playing harp on a couple of tracks. The sound quality isn't perfect but it's pretty good and it captures Bonnie doing material from her first two albums as well as some songs that have never been officially released - Steve Winwood's 'Can't Find My Way Home', John Hurt's 'Richland Woman Blues' and her own song 'Blender Blues'. Although Bonnie sounds young (she was only 22) she also sounds very confident and relaxed, her voice is perfectly controlled and her guitar playing is particularly good on blues like Robert Johnson's 'Walking blues' and 'Richland Woman Blues'.

Bonnie wrote two of the songs included in the set - the R&B sounds of 'Thank you' (on which she plays piano) and the more bluesy 'Finest loving man' and she also includes two covers from one of her major influences Sippie Wallace - 'Mighty tight woman' and 'Women be wise'. As well as the straight blues she also does more contemporary covers of Stephen Stills 'Bluebird', Paul Siebel's 'Any day woman' and Jackson Browne's 'Under The Falling Sky'. This is a nice varied set that showcases all sides of Bonnie's early material, more folky and bluesy than her current line up but basically the same mix of blues, soul and folk that she has always sang. Highly recommended.

Outstanding CD 18 April 2011
Format:Audio CD
This is an absolute must for Bonnie Raitt fans. It brought back memories of when I first saw her on the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1972 - I've been a fan ever since. Seen her live once in the UK - amazing. This radio recording dates from just after her first album and shows how talented she was even at 22. Album notes give an interesting brief biography and some background to each song. Album is 57 mins long and the recording is excellent - no edits, so Bonnie's chats with the audience all included adding to the experience. Thoroughly recommended.

BLISS! 16 Jun 2011
Format:MP3 Download
If you prefer early, guitar-picking bluesy Bonnie Raitt to the later, more commercial, slickly produced material, you will be in heaven listening to this. It really is like sitting in a small, intimate venue with The Lady chatting to you between tracks and playing guitar, piano and singing as only she can. A superb addition for the devoted fan's collection, and a great introduction to any newcomer to her style. Not one dull track, and a terrific cover of a Steve Winwood song in there too- Buy it with confidence!
