Product Description

CD Description

In 1992, PWEI took the radical step of recruiting a drummer, one
Fuzz Townsend. After honing their hip hop / techno / rock fusion
over three previous albums, The LooksOr The Lifestyle saw
them take a more traditional, song orientated approach, whilst
managing to retain their live popularity and increase their
commercial success. The record bore several hit singles
( Karmadrome , Bulletproof , Get The Girl! Kill The Baddies )
and also introduced them to a new audience in the wake of the
grunge explosion of 1991.
Spread across 2CDs, this set presents a fascinating insight into the
album s development, containing nine of the band s own
bedroom demos for the album, recorded before the recruitment
of a drummer (including a song which was never released),
alongside the best of the b-sides and remixes from this period in
their career and a promo only version of Get The Girl! .
Accompanied by sleeve-notes by the band s own Adam Mole, an
essay on this period and some fantastic archive images, this
package provides a fascinating insight into a very successful era of
change in PWEI s career.
A must have package for any PWEI fan, and a brilliant showcase of
a remarkable album. This record has international appeal and
promises to put the band s trailblazing career under the
microscope again.
Features three hit singles
Nine never before heard demos
Losing My Mind has never been released before in any form
Includes remixes previously only released on vinyl (taken
from original master tapes)
Sleeve-notes by guitarist/keyboardist Adam Mole

I always admired PWEI's decision to use live drums when they toured this album; and from a band made famous by the 'Beaver Patrol' tape loop!

You only have to listen to U2 a couple of year's on from this, especially their Batman soundtrack, to realise how influential PWEI were with this record.

feels like karma 10 Feb 2008

PWEI has always been my favorite band ever since I first heard them. It sucks that they are no longer together. Anyway, I believe this is their third album(at least in the U.S.), and it is terrific. It's a shot to your face right from beginning to end. Karmadrone is my favorite and it was the one track from the album that had it's own single. Every track on this album is great. One of the reason's that PWEI is my favorite band is that they have such a unique and wild sound. I classify them as industrial because they mix live instruments with loops and samples. If you like anything like Renegade Soundwave, Front 242, Prodigy, or The Orb, then you will most likely dig this. This is just as good a place as any to get into the poppies, and if you already dig their sound then get this album now.
live drums ruin it 31 Dec 2009

this is the day..., and cure for sanity were two of my fav albums of all time and i was really looking forward to getting this one when it first came out. i was really disapointed cause the songs weren't nearly as strong and for me the live drummer just doesn't work. what i loved about PWEI was the way they sampled awesome drum beats and when they stuck a live real drummer in there it just...i don't know, ruined the whole thing for me. i really wanted to like this album. i tried hard but couldn't. didn't really like much that they put out after this either...but at least i will always have my cure for sanity and this is the day...and no one can take those away from me.
Amazing 18 Dec 2009

This really is one of the best electronic rock based albums to ever come out. Imagine the Beastie Boys(with heavy british accents)performing with a sample heavy electronica group and rock guitar player. Quirky, catchy, and FUN!
