This book was worth every penny of it's cost. It is an absolute gem of a book which covers the origins and workings of the Longmoor Military railway from it's inception up until the outbreak of WW2. The aerial photographs showing the development of the railway and all the additional sidings and buildings are crystal clear and give a fascinating birds eye view of the railway.
Longmoor is now a military training area and one that I have used many times. Many of the original buildings are still in place albeit put to another use. It is still possible to see the remains of the sidings and many of the hardened roads around the training area are, in fact, the original track beds. I wish I had had this book some years ago as it would have been an invaluable guide. I can't wait until volume 2 is printed.
This is a highly recommended book which gives the reader a thorough understanding of the Longmoor Military railway. It is set to become the definitive work on the subject, so grab a copy while you can!
