I've never written a review on Amazon before, but feel compelled to correct the previous one here. "The long kill" is as good a read as any of Hill's books - and better than some.
Hill, with his usual expertise at creating believable characters of flesh and blood, delves into the main characters' personalities and shows how good and bad can get blurred once you understand people's history.
Although slightly predictable at some points, it's a great thriller, that I was unable to put down until I finished it - only to immediately start rereading it, because I didn't want to say goodbye to the characters yet.
If you want to explore Hill's books outside of the magnificent Dalziel series, this one and "Death of a dormouse" are definitely must-reads.
