Review

"Cycling is the quickest way of getting around London. It's also much cheaper, saving you the costs of expensive public transport or petrol and parking. Not only that, but by cycling regularly you'll lose weight, get fitter; and cut down your risk of heart attacks, high blood pressure and other illnesses." London Cycling Campaign."

This book contains some great cycle routes around London. We've tried four of them now and enjoyed them all. The routes seem to be very well chosen -- they are mostly on quiet roads and interesting back streets that you wouldn't otherwise find, with some interesting sights and hidden gems along the way. I found that when you depart from the route in the book for any reason you encounter more traffic, so the author clearly gone to a great deal of effort to find the most cycle friendly route.

excellent book 5 Oct 2010
Many many thanks for this wonderful book.
I own several bike route books however this is the best.
It is very informative, very well written . The maps are very clear, the routes are enjoyable. I used the route from Limehouse to Victoria park then joined another route to Lee valley then as i felt energetic carried onto Waltham Abbey. I noticed the information on obtaining 14 different London cycle maps which were totally free, noted which underground stations I can use.Full of information but not overbearing or boring.
Great guide, excellent value

On your bike 1 Oct 2010

Cities are so busy these days that the best ways to get around are to walk or cycle. This guide to cycling round London has been designed with traffic-free routes in mind. You'll discover hidden gems and take roads you perhaps would not have thought of otherwise. The 30 selected routes take in landmarks and places of interest in the capital. I love the Arts and Crafts route and Fashionable Quarters. All the routes are of interest. Complete with maps, tips on cycling and more. Length of route and guide time are useful additions. Really get to know the city, with this exciting guide. This review first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.
