DVD Description

Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Hope Davis (About Schmidt), Shane West (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and Simon Baker (TV's "The Mentalist") star in this terrifying thriller. The Lodger follows a seasoned detective on the trail of a ruthless killer intent on slaughtering prostitutes along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip. It appears that the murderer's grisly methods are identical to that of London's infamous 19th century psychopath Jack the Ripper - a relentless serial killer who was never caught by police. To make matters worse, the detective soon notices the parallels between the crimes committed by the West Hollywood stalker and those of a serial murderer incarcerated years ago. Could the wrong man be behind bars? Also starring Rachael Leigh Cook (Nancy Drew).

Synopsis

Two LA detectives hunt a Jack The Ripper copycat. Adding to the frustration, one of the detectives previously collared a criminal who was executed for the crime.

SIMON BAKER ROCKS! 20 April 2009
Format:DVD
Bought it primarily for the gorgeous Simon Baker! However, it's a good movie with excellent acting all round. Movie buffs will appreciate the references to the films of Alfred Hitchcock. A nice double twist at the end.

After seeing the trailer and showing promise to be a very gripping thriller with known actors and actresses, I went ahead and rented it out for the night with the lights out and goodies to eat. It begins with a murder on a "woman of the night" that met to a grisly end, two cops (Alfred Molina and Shane West) are wondering that the man they sent to a death sentence may not be the killer after all. Meanwhile a woman (Hope Davis) has put a offer of someone to be a lodger to a house to help pay the bills so when a handsome myterious man (Simon Baker) arrives, she dosen't realise that he may not be all he seems. It's a very suspenseful and keeps you guessing, teasing you that it may be one or the other or more. Me and my sister were a little creeped out by the striking refences of Jack The Ripper and the horrifying From Hell movie, it's qutie clever how it's planned out and the ending is totally shocking to see though I wouldn't want a sequel if the main stars didn't appear in it. The pefomances are rather good, Alfred Molina is okay as the cop who is obessed with this case and Shane West as the rookie partner. Hope Davis and Simon Baker were also good too, both showing intense chemisty between the pair. I would recommend this film to anyone who is intrested in a twisty, edge of your seat thriller without total gore, sex or offensive language. A chilling four stars.

Brilliant 20 Aug 2009
Format:DVD
This film is probably one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.
The actors were brilliant and the character portrayal of the Malcolm
was done really well by Simon Baker.
This movie will keep you glued to your chair and is a must for those
who loved to be on the edge of the seats.
The ending was well done and kept you guessing.
Don't delay get this movie if you love a great thriller/murder story.
Beware it can be gory in places but well worth it.
