Product Description

Synopsis

In the dark world of Warhammer, mankind is beset by danger from all sides. From the sewers and drains crawl the ratmen, filthy beasts of fur and claw, killers, spreaders of disease: the skaven! Long have they desired to subdue the people of the Old World, and even as their power rises, most men remain blind to it. But a few have the courage and foresight to recognise the peril. One such man is the scholar Wilhelm Leiber. This is his book, covering all the aspects and habits of the revolting skaven: their physiology, their methods of war and his projected plans on how to deal with the rising menace, with many accompanying pictures and sketches. Many believe Leiber was a maniac, a paranoid fool whose work has no basis in fact. We think otherwise. Read 'The Loathsome Ratmen And All Their Vile Kin' and learn for yourself the secrets of the skaven!

A piece of the Warhammer world come to life 16 July 2011
By Robert Rutkowski Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Like the 'Liber Chaotica' and 'The Life of Sigmar', 'The Loathsome Ratmen and All Their Vile Kin' is a reproduction of an actual tome in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. Written (ostensibly) by Wilhelm Leiber after nearly being killed by skaven following the Great War against Chaos, it covers the author's investigation into the history and society of the skaven race. The book provides an in-depth study of the skaven and their influence on the Old World. It also discusses the 'Conspiracy of Silence,' the strange unwillingness of the average person to believe in the existence of skaven despite all the other wonders and horrors of the Warhammer world. Leiber's research is supported by text citations and sketches of artifacts he finds during his ten year study.

'The Loathsome Ratmen and All Their Vile Kin' is an indispensable tool for those who want to know more about the skaven, but don't need to know game-play rules. The book is highly detailed and very thorough. It provides keen insight, not only into the skaven mindset, but also into how the Warhammer world views skaven. It does have the problem of not being totally complete, however this is understandable considering the book predates the 'modern' age of Warhammer by 200-300 years.

And as an added treat, a small note written on the inside cover indicates that this might actually be the copy of the book read by Felix Jaeger in 'Skavenslayer' by William King.
