5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet little taster 22 Jun. 2012
By Emma
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A little taster of the main book, delicious descriptions of sweeties too, not great for a dribbling diabetic.

Will buy the proper book now.

Total escapism and thoroughly enjoyable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cooking or loving? 15 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not sure whether this book is best as a cake recipe book or as a love novella but it falls between the two stools. Given it is a sampler I've not read much of it and did not feel impelled to purchase the complete book. a pity as I like other Jenny Colgan books which work well for holiday reads and the times when you want to read but don't want to tax your brain too much.
If you like cooking and love stories then you've got both in one here but it seems that in neither having precedence the message is confused.

3.0 out of 5 stars a good taster... 21 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A good taster of what to expect from the main book...a bit like the taster samples you get in supermarkets to draw you in to buy the main product. A good bit of escapism ,then just as you think you have finished you are given a few recipes and delicious descriptions of sweets that remind you of your childhood...refreshers, honeycomb, fudge, dolly mixtures, I could read a book just about these.
My daughter is completely jealous of the pink kitchen!
An enjoyable easy read

2.0 out of 5 stars Too short 24 Nov. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I do like short stories but one chapter an a couple of baking recipes does not really qualify as a short story I'm afraid!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok 4 Nov. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Bit disappointed. I really enjoyed the first book, but this was a real let down. Very predictable, poor and unbelievable plot. For an avid reader, this was an effort to read. Such a shame, love JEnny Colgan's books but this felt like a money making tag on to the sucess of the first book esp for the £5.99 price tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gret Author 7 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I purchased this for my wife to read whilst we were on holiday and downloaded it onto my kindle. It must have been very good as I couldnt get my Kindle back until she had finished reading it. She now has her own Kildle and has read many more Jenny Colgan books.

3.0 out of 5 stars no real relevance to the story! 23 Nov. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's got a few bits story related but it's before Cupcake cafe begins, it's mostly recipies, there's also a bit about Rosies sweet shop, it's a freebie but unless you want to try the recipes I wouldn't get it!

1.0 out of 5 stars No real life in it. 10 Jun. 2013
By Alice
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I think that it might just be me. But there is little to no plot here. I'm not sure I'll read another Jenny Colgan book. The characters were very lukewarm.
