This quote from George Eliot features in Kimberly Willis's wonderful "Little Book of Diet Help" and is so true. For those of us who have spent many years yo-yo dieting, starving or eating bizarre foods and ending up heavier some time later, this book is a breath of fresh air. This isn't about "dieting" it's about you and the problems or issues you have with food, learning why you have them and how to deal with them. You will learn techniques to deal with food cravings; eat a healthy diet; recognise when you are hungry and when you are full; understand better how your body functions and the effect of some foods on your body and your moods. This is not a heavy tome you have to plough your way through - it is written in a wonderfully readable and understandable format and the real joy for me is being able to pop it in my bag and dip into it at various times of the day, or when I feel in need of a boost.
Kimberly Willis has a good understanding of the chemistry and physiology of our bodies and how different foods affect them and create mood swings. She adds to this simple techniques to boost energy and combat cravings and helps the reader to boost their self esteem and realise that they are important. This balanced approach doesn't demonise whole food groups, doesn't make you a failure if you have a treat every now and again and truly gives me hope that it really is never too late to lose weight naturally and healthily - and permanently. Thank you Kimberly!

Format:Hardcover
This is a great little book which I can highly recommend. It is not your conventional diet book but a book with a difference the ideas in which will reach the parts of you that others have failed to reach.

The author, Kimberly Willis, is a therapist who specialises in weight loss both with individuals and groups. Her background is in science with a PhD in Chemistry but she now uses skills such as hypnotherapy, emotional freedom technique and neurolinguistic programming to help her clients.

The book is attractively set out and easy to read or just dip into. Each page covers a different topic and the use of colour, pictures and diagrams enhances the text and engages the reader.

We all know in theory how to lose weight, so how is it we find it so hard? What are the obstacles that get in our way?

The psychology and physiology of our eating habits are more important to understand than the number of calories we are consuming.

This is where this book is so helpful. Kimberley tackles subjects such as our attitudes to food; our emotional involvement with food; the importance of stabilising one's blood sugar and serotonin level.

Not only does she advise on the how to eat better and more wisely but even more importantly suggests tips and exercises to help with such things as cravings and temptations.

These techniques are derived from the most ancient of traditions including yoga, mindfulness and acupressure.

The use of these will help you regain control of your eating habits, your weight and ultimately your life.

The cost of the book is less than that of a few bars of chocolate and is worth its weight in gold.
