I first bought a copy of The List of 7 back in 1994. Since then, the book, and its sequel, The Six Messiahs, have become an annual highlight in my reading calendar. The List of 7 is a highly atmospheric novel, which is superbly plotted, and which races along like a steam train to its climax. Frost has a real skill in painting the strongest of pictures in the reader's mind, and this book has a number of moments which still linger in my memory. Its characterisation, however, is its strongest point. The three main characters are brilliantly crafted by Frost, and this really marks the book as a true classic. Alexander is a truly original villian, and the best chapter in the book revolves around his brother's account of his life, and how it has shaped his own. I have introduced this book (and the sequel) to a number of friends, and cannot recommend it highly enough. Please Mr Frost, complete the trilogy!
