Note: The other reviews have obviously been mistakenly added from a different book entirely so please ignore them.

The Magic Key / Time Chronicles series are masterfully written, maintaining that elusive combination of simple writing within interesting plots. At the same time they deliver reasonably drawn characters conveying historical facts but don't assume these are books just for educational use (they're very popular in schools throughout the key stages). They are very much a fun read in their own right - my daughter (now 8) has been devouring them since she could read!

The only caveat is that, if you order the set of 6, you don't receive a 'box-set' as such, it's just the 6 individual books in this series bound together in plastic, although you do get a Teacher's Notes book with them.

Very uncool 11 Sep 2006
Format:Paperback
Michaela Morgan says she was moved to write this story after seeing children at a school with expensive trainers. This book sends the very poor message that the only way to be cool is to have an expensive pair of trainers to be like evryone else. What kind of message is that to send to young, impressionable children? There's already youth crime based on what mobile phone or clothing you wear, and envy based on not having what others have got. I think this is an atrocious book, and the author should be ashamed of herself.

This marvelous book is called The Monster in the wardrobe. Luke hears a noise from his wardrobe and called for his sister . Luke reads himself a monster book. T he monster slowly creeps out of the wardrobe. Run for your life says the big sister. Adults will do but children are the best to eat for the monster.

I liked the part when it started to get like James Bond.
