4.0 out of 5 stars Spyro is tilting the scales.... 16 Aug 2008
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Basically this game is different. In the early PS1 games spyro was for small kids, who want little fighting and loads of collecting. The makers soon realized this is not what most of the 7+ people wanted and changed it. after many sequels they came up with the best and most balanced game; A heros tail. That was my favourite because it was very well balanced and did not have a set path for you to follow, it had some collecting and some fighting which balanced out and made a very enjoyable game.

With Eternal night the scales have switched sides from too much collecting to too much fighting. The graphics have much improved and the characters tweaked i mean they have RUINED SPARKS! its hard to explain but he aint' what he used to be! but the game is very playable and is very fun, the only major floor is that you cant choose where to save, resulting in longer play when you want to stop. The wii controls are excellent and make the game much better than on PS2 say. This is a great adventure game made interesting with the fighting styles and the challenges that you face. buy this game if you are 12+ because it will be very appealing.

If you are 10 or less this isn't the game for you as collecting in this game is fighting (you get jewels from eliminating bad guys)

BUT IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED HEROS TAIL BUY THAT INSTEAD AS IT IS THE BEST ON IN THE SERIES!

4.0 out of 5 stars Spyro evolves 29 Feb 2008

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I had Spyro on PS1 many years ago, and I've actually found Eternal Night much more playable. Am only about 3 hours in so far, but the game takes you through the various controls in a very simple way as you begin to play, so they're not hard to pick up.

As the other reviewers have said, it is much darker than the PS1 Spyro game (well, so far at least), and is also different in terms of the game play. Eternal Night doesn't have the annoying repetitiveness of the PS1 game where you were constantly hunting for that last jewel; instead it builds on the problem solving and bashing enemies parts, and jewels are needed for other things like energy and special abilities.

All in all a great evolution of a fun game.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a good buy 11 Jan 2008
By Katie
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I have only recently took the plunge and brought a Nintendo Wii; prior to this I had a PS1. On the PS1 the first couple of Spyro games that came out were really interesting and me and my sister enjoyed the light-hearted fun of collecting gems, saving dragons going into different realms etc. Due to this I expected the latest Spyro game to be similar but perhaps I should read the title, 'Eternal Night' before I made this assumption!

It is much darker and there are no gems or any of the other things that appealed to me in the previous games. Me and my sister attempted this game for ½ an hour each and both of us gave up because we found it boring and frustrating. Another downside is that we found the Wii controls hard to use in this particular game but I would like to think that if we had given it longer we would have got used to it. I took this game back the next day and exchanged it for Super Mario Galaxy which has been much more interesting and very enjoyable.
