Truly one of the best novels written for the Dragonlance saga. From his beginnings as a humble Crown Knight fighting for a grip on his place in the world in light of his weak bloodline, Huma Dragonbane struggles to live the ideals of the Solamnic Knighthood. His friendship with Magius, cynical wizard of shifting alliances, and Kaz, a minotaur hounded by prejudice, conspire to bring him down in the eyes of the Knights, but his honour and faith mark him the champion of the Gods of Good themselves. With their gift of the legendary dragonlances, he must battle Takhisis herself to prevent the world from sliding into darkness.

This is heroic fantasy at its absolute best. The story is amazingly told, with an easy flowing narrative which captures the atmosphere of the world perfectly. An absolute must for Dragonlance fans, although it remains one of the few books in the series which can be picked up by a complete newcomer without losing anything.

Truly a classic in the Dragonlance series, Richard A. Knaak impressed me with his short stories in the Tales series, but his first full length novel is even better, this book is a must for all Dragonlance collectors, especially if they wish to know how it all started! I can't wait to read his other novel "Kaz the Minotaur" as I'm sure that it is going to be just as good.

Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the first Dragon Lance book i ever read. I found the story completely fascinating. I disagree with some people who say it is to unrealistic for fantasy. Nothing is impossible to the realm of fiction. Some things are weird but it all fits perfectly. I would like to read better books but most pale in comparison to this.

What the Hell?
I used to love Dragonlance books, but this was one that turned me off of the series.

It nearly destroys the legend of Huma Dragonbane. Read more

Big things in small packages
This is great book. Honestly. It gets criticised because it is a snap shot of a story that would need dozens of massive books to fully tell. It's a 300+ tale vs 30,000 pages. Read more

Well...
This book wasn't TOO bad. The writing was alright, although I could see the silver dragon part coming a mile away. There were just too many coinscidence for its own good, I think. Read more
