Basically, this is a story of an artist who has striven to reach the top of his trade, has met and released tracks with his idols. Approaching his third solo album, he decided to take matters into his own hands and release it on his imprint SUBTITLES MUSIC. Approaching its 40th release, SUBTITLES MUSIC has become known for pushing the boundaries of excellent engineering as well as creating for lush, dreamy next level beat science. Subtitles Music home to some of the scenes most exiting new producers; Break, Noisia, Chris.Su, Phace, Commix, Corrupt Souls, etc Back to the matter at hand, "The Legacy" is TeeBees fi nest work to date. A double CD and 4-piece vinyl for the djs, containing 8 tracks that have been smashing up clubs around the world in the last 2 years. The massive "Liquid Light", originally lined up for Grooveriders Prototype label and TeeBees most anticipated track to date, is just one of many classic tracks that shape this album. A collaboration with Norwegian jazz/electronica legend Niels Petter Molvaer, comes in the form of the infectious, (but at this moment inappropriately named) " Tsunami". A track that has graced the decks of djs such as Fabio, Grooverider, Andy C, Marcus Intalex, Photek plus many more. TeeBee even sings vocals on the opening track "Forever Lost". Eagerly anticipated, ?The Legacy" is a dnb lovers dream! Tighter than tight production skills, great moods, melodic, simple, complex, cold as steel, yet warmer than a teenager in a strip bar. "The Legacy" delivers. Quite simply, amazing.
About the Artist
TeeBee aka Torgeir Byrknes has proven and established himself within the fi ercely competitive drumnbass scene by showing commitment and a determination to overcome the barriers both in his native home, Norway and the traditionally tight knit scene. This has been achieved through desire, willpower a strong self belief and an unquestionable talent at production and engineering. The work has defi nitely gone in, both in being noticed and in maintaining a position in a rapidly self-interesting and mutating arena. Allied to the inbuilt strengths, was a further barrier of taking on a craft that was born and raised oceans away from TeeBees own land, where it was once thought "outsiders" would never go or have what it takes to impact on a scene that was home grown. TeeBee was one of the fi rst, a spirited adventurer who proved in his quest that once you felt the music, you were able to produce it from whatever your background. Working through the ranks of labels such as A Level, Rugged Vinyl, Juice, Moving Shadow, and onto album projects for the open-minded and exploratory, Certifi cate 18 label. TeeBee has consistently made innovation and consolidation part of his musical fabric. Not before too long Fabios Creative Source label would be in receipt of tracks, which in turn would gain the attention of other Godfathers of the scene, Grooverider and Goldie (for whom TeeBee remixed one of DnBs greatest moments in form of Metalheadz 50, Angel TeeBee remix). To top it all, 2003 was the year he got hunted down by one of the scenes greatest innovators, Photek. This was the start, of the biggest adventure so far in his rise. It must be said that out of all people in music, Photek has probably made the biggest impact on TeeBees production style. So in a way, the master felt that the apprentice was ready for the big challenges, and welcomed him into the big ranks.
