Book Description

19 Feb 2009
In Lebanon the table is always full. Soups, salads, mezze and main dishes are all served at the same time and shared around, and there is always bread on the table. The recipes in this book are traditional, based on home-style cooking using straightforward techniques and easy to obtain ingredients. You can entertain for all tastes and appetites by serving a selection of dishes from the various chapters. Many of the main courses are all based around meat and fish, however, other chapters provide a myriad of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike with wonderful salads, vegetable and lentil dishes, breadsk, dips and pastries.

Excellent introduction to Lebanese cookery, including the best of the basic recipes.
The recipes are for the first time authentic and more importantly accurate and clearly written by a national not someone who thinks they know Lebanese cooking as is the case of all other books. The recipes replicate local dishes cooked and eaten by all Lebanese people.
Hoping that the author will embark on a second volume to include some of the more intricate and less well known recipes of the country.

What a fantastic book. I've been cooking Lebanese food for my guests for years, but I have never found such gorgeous recipes, many of them suitable for vegetarians. The Moujadara Hamra is sensational as is the Hummus Sada. This a beautifully presented book with great pictures of what the food should look like, and the combination of flavours is just divine. Well done indeed!
