Product Description

Reggie and Dot are a young South London couple who get married before they really get to know each other. After the marriage, they quickly begin to drift apart. Dot seems content to pursue her own interests, until Reggie meets Pete, a fellow Biker, and begins to explore his own identity.

Product Description

United Kingdom released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Mono ), WIDESCREEN, SPECIAL FEATURES: Black & White, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: Dot (Rita Tushingham) is a girl who marries motorcycle maven Reggie (Colin Campbell) to escape her parents' influence. The marriage gets off to a rocky start and completely slides downhill after the honeymoon is plagued by bad weather. Dot refuses to have anything to do with household responsibilities and cooks only canned beans. Reggie loses interest in sex with Dot because of her actions, and after moving in with his grandmother, he begins to hang around Pete (Dudley Sutton). The two friends ride their motorcycles and begin to spend even more time together, and eventually Reggie realizes that Pete is a homosexual. Dot tells Reggie she is pregnant in an attempt to get him back -- with no result, but when Reggie comes home to find his wife in bed with another man, he decides to go off to sea with Pete. Pete leaves Reggie shaken and alone when he goes off with a group of sailors out to satisfy their same-sex lust. The film was controversial at the time of its initial release. Frustrating 7 Aug 2007
Format:DVD
This is a minor gem of a kitchen sink drama, with some some great performances and some location sequences that will get nostalgia buffs very steamed up - Butlins in Bognor and the old Ace Café!

However, it's very badly served indeed by this release. To start with, it's a fairly duff print, which can't necessarily be helped, but is still annoying. Much more seriously, the box copy claims that the film is presented in widescreen, when in fact it's letterboxed 4:3 - which means that widescreen TV owners can choose between either watching a minuscule (around 1/3 size) picture floating in the middle of the screen, or zooming in, which degrades the image so badly as to render it pretty much unwatchable. The picture resolution is so low and the transfer so poor that on LCD screens many scenes simply dissolve into a riot of pixellation. Wait for it to turn up on TV instead.

A great kitchen sink social drama from the early sixties - but - this must be about the worst dvd transfer i have ever seen! Some scenes were so pixelated you can hardly make out the faces. The makers of this dvd should be ashamed to charge such a price for such a shoddy piece of work.

A great british film ruined!

Complete waste of money 29 April 2007
Format:DVD
This is a very disappointing release. The picture quality is so bad that it looks like a pirate version. Also, whilst originally filmed in Cinemascope the film is shown in full screen. Save your money!
