First of great delivery for the Xmas rush and price was good.

The books are very well written and has a good DVD to help along aide the books if need be. As I'm starting in the 3D work I wanted a book that wod teach me the basics before I do some personal 3D project, the books goes over all the basic in the first couple of lesson then starts to teach you the amazing thing you can do with maya and once you've finished the first book you've got the second and third books to teach animation and the special effect. All in all very good books for people who want to start in the 3D world that are using maya.

not the best books at all to learn 24 April 2009
By Confused in Utah - Published on Amazon.com
I feel sorry for anyone who has not worked in Maya before that gets these books. Having gone through two of them, I find myself hurling the book against the wall more and more. Steps are not detailed at all. Explanations will be tweak the vertices until you get a shape like this...Sorry, but that type of short hand does not help when trying to match a 2D image with a 3D model, not to mention they state to use certain views, which is impossible to match the required shape using the specified views. You just end up reading the steps, then opening up their files to inspect how they made the shape. Also note the instructor videos are about 3 minutes long and do not really help at all.

Great Books 9 Mar 2009
By R. Linkous - Published on Amazon.com
These are some great books, I wish i didn't have to of waited for 3 months to get them to me. The books themselves are great teaching resources. But the box they come in which seems to be why it took so long for the set to come out. Is very poor worksmanship and product design. I've had my books since Friday, and the moment i took them out of the box all 3 books fell through the back part of the box and ripped it, makeing it useless to hold the books together, as a set. Other than that great set of books shouldn't of taken 3 months after the singles came out though, just to make a crappy box.
