Book Description

"The Lazy Man's Guide to Grappling" is a hilarious look at what some grapplers do to cope in the hard charging grappling environment.

It exposes the truth about grapplers and grappling that is never discussed but everyone thinks about. We are all guilty of some of the Lazy Man's practices to varying degrees.

This e-book exposes:

The Lazy Man's Takedowns
The Truth about Warmups
Magic Funk Taps
Credit Vision
Injured Grapplers' Psyche Out Methods
Superhero Taps
Blue Belt Heaven
Grappling Dummy and Heavy Bag Secrets

and so much more.

From the author:

This is not a how to book. So there won't be any pictures demonstrating techniques. If there were I would lose all credibility. It is more of an approach towards grappling; my overarching philosophy.

I will not be sharing my life story and detailing all of my wins at NAGA or Grapplers Quest or how I trained five hours a day for six years to get where I am now. I am just a man who loves grappling but not all of the extras that are attached to it. If I could get up in the morning and just learn a technique and grapple for about 20 minutes then life would be golden.

I am like BJ Penn who popularized the term, "Just Scrap." I feel the same way.

Just Grapple!

I downloaded this because I really enjoy the authors blog and twitter posts but I'm sorry but I was a little disappointed in the content. It's pretty short and although has a few humorous anecdotes I wouldn't say it something that is much needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Guilty... 10 Sept. 2011
By Caleb - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm guilty.

I have done a lot of the things described in this book. It's weird when you read something like this because you realize all of the sneaky things you thought no one would notice is actually noticed by quite a few people. It was also cool to read something like this because there aren't many books about BJJ that aren't instructionals.

I hope the author keeps writing books like this one. It was funny, easy to read and is about a sport that I absolutely love. Money well spent and I was well entertained for a few hours.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy 15 May 2011

I bought this book after reading the first "review" which is obviously written by the author of the book.

I'll sum up this guide in a few sentences. If you choose to buy after reading my review, you deserve what you get.

- takes about 5 minutes to read. I'm not kidding. I am also a slow reader.
- if you have been in bjj for more than a month you know all these "tricks"
- the guide reads like a Maxim article, you know the ones, "5 easy ways to pick up chicks" or "get a six-pack over night"
- completely useless information

Thanks for taking my $2.99!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Zen-ish low key approach to grappling- the way it should be 16 Jun. 2013

Read this on a 2 hour plane ride. Perfect light reading that gave me answers to why I almost passed out after my first sparring match and how to prevent that in the future. That's worth the three bucks in my opinion. In fact I'm open to this sort of investment rather than getting a free e-book but then having to pay all sorts of money for weird diets and video subscriptions that are out there.

Well written with a good sense of humor. So far what I've learned about BJJ is to be calm. Most of the good instructors will joke around a bit and all have a good sense of humor which I think is a good approach to life on and off the matt.

Looking forward to reading his other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous Look At Grappling 19 May 2011
By K. Akil - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lazy Mans Guide to Grappling is a humorous look at grappling. The author relates his experiences and observations about grappling over the years. He exposes some of the tricks that grappling slackers use to get around some of the more tedious aspects of grappling. Over all it's a fun read, and worth reading if you are interested in Grappling, and MMA.
