I've read tonnes of these books now, attended seminars on pick up, bought dvd's and even paid for private tuition so I don't consider myself a newbie at pick up anymore.

The Layguide is certainly one of the better books out there on pick up. It's funny with some real laugh out loud moments.

The one critique I could give this book is that if you're starting out in pick up then you're probably going to want something on actually approaching women or girls. Getting over your "approach anxiety" is the first step and should be taken care of before you try to become an expert! For this, the best book I've read by far is Destroy Approach Anxiety - Effortlessly Approach Women Without Fear. But after you get over your initial fear of actually approaching women then The Layguide is one of the books you should read to give you some more intermediate advice and tricks.

The pickup artist has come of age. No longer relying on a hairy chest and a medallion to seduce the opposite sex, a thriving community has appeared on the net, exchanging the latest psychological tips and tricks that lead to a woman's bed. But these people aren't geeks. When it comes to seducing women, they are the real deal, only granting grandmaster pick up status to acolytes after the 1,000th babe has been laid.

And here lies the depressing fact about this book and the inevitable controversy that it has aroused (Germaine Greer having claimed that such men are rapists - seems like some feminists don't want to abandon notions of 'sexual ownership', 'faithfulness', 'duties'.etc at least not when it comes to men). The book is a thoroughly exhaustive anaylsis of what it takes for a man to get a woman into bed, compiled by men who have certainly 'been there and done it' many, many times. They know what works and what doesn't. And for all the complex psychology of 'neg hits', 'NLP patterning' etc, basically the recipe for success is that you have to show the lady you are a dominant caveman. When it comes to seduction, nice guys finish last, something to be avoided when you apparently have an average of 30 seconds to demonstrate to a potential pick-up that you can swing the club harder than any rival Fred Flintstone in sight. It appears deep down, women still want the hairy chest after all.

Feminist critics of the pick-up culture, incapable of any self-criticism as they are, tend to miss this point. Instead of focusing on why such macho men want to have sex with every good looking woman they see (and why shouldn't they?), perhaps they should ask why nearly every good looking woman would rather have sex with men who follow advice such as 'Always be in control (rule no.

The title "The Layguide" might give the impression that this book is just full of crude advice on how to get women into bed.

However, there is a lot of content that EVERY MAN should know about: understanding the minds of women, how to prevent her from playing games, how to act around her friends and even a chapter on relationships.

There is a chapter to meet the needs of most situations, as in martial arts, it may be used in self-defense when threatened/messed around or as a weapon for pick-up.

I am very thankful to Tony for publishing this book which is a must have and a bargain. I am also thankful to him for having the courage to write about his viewpoint and present even scenarios that many men may consider overboard. So what? I was blown away from the broad spectrum tips and scenarios discussed in this detailed book. Not only that but it will save you times more than its modest price. I agree that Tony is right on by saying and supporting with examples that the key secret if there is such is "your attitude". Period. You may be a "nice guy" and spend a lot of money on dates as if you are not interesting and valuable enough to be worthy the time of the ladies.

Tony teaches to stay by your side, to believe in your own value and never even to try to "buy" women's attention, courtesy or time. It will send a wrong signal and in most cases they will simply take advantage of you and your "generosity". I am aware that the title promises a lot but the book also delivers a lot. Related one that is also a must have is "scientificlly guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex". Both of them deserve to reread them from time to time just to remind you that nice guys who spend a small fortune on women eventually do not get laid and enjoy fantastic sex and are very often at the bottom of women's lists. So I urge you to get these books and pay special attention to them. You may not agree or use all of the numerous tips and secrets but it is also not necessary. Highly recommended!

I read this book when it first came out, i had never really had a problem picking up women, but this book opened my eyes to what women want. Dont take what you see on the page as gospel, add your own little twists to it...It doesnt teach you how to talk to women, it just teaches you how to be more confident and how to put yourself across. Excellent and good fun!

This book tells you to do two things straight away. If you can’t do them – then buying it is basically pointless. The two things are:
i. only ever approach very beautiful women, ii. once you’ve clocked someone as being beautiful, approach them within three seconds.
If you can already do this without being drunk, you should already be successful with the opposite sex. If you can do it, and you’re not successful...by all means buy this, there is some decent advice in it. If you don’t think you’ll be able to do it, don’t bother buying this book, just accept your lot in life.
If you’re not able to do it, then the likely reason is a lack of confidence. This book attempts to address this, but, in my opinion, fails. It’s basic premise is – be confident, feel confident, know that any woman would be lucky to be with you. But my opinion is...if you’re able to feel confident, do it, if not, reading a book won’t make any difference.
On the other hand...other reviewers feel differently and it only costs 3 quid, so what have you got to lose?
