Product Description

Book Description

'Grace,' he said, 'I am going to apply the methods of the Four to this devil Stedland.' But the judge finds Jeffrey Storr guilty, not Stedland. As Storr's wife Grace leaves the court a foreign-looking gentleman introduces himself. He and his companion are friends of her husband. Justice has failed and THE FOUR JUST MEN have stepped in. They will use their own laws to protect the innocent and will impose their own verdicts. There can be no appeal. AUTHBIO: Edgar Wallace was a soldier, poet, war correspondent, reporter, author and playwright. He wrote more than 170 books, which have been translated into 28 languages and sales of which have exceeded 50 million copies. Over 160 films have been made from his books - more than any other author. He was working on the original screenplay for King Kong when he died. In the 1920s one of Wallace's many publishers claimed that a quarter of all books read in England were written by him.

Format:Paperback
Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1875–1932) was a wonderful and prolific British crime writer, who uniquely for the start of the 20th Century, wrote about policemen (instead of amateur sleuths) solving crimes.

He wrote three "Four Just Men" books:

1) The Four Just Men (1905)
2) The Council of Justice (Adventures of Four Just Men) (1908)
3) The Law of the Four Just Men (1921) Hodder & Stoughton

The third and final one, "The Law of the Four Just Men" is the one I have enjoyed most and contains these ten plot-rich and exciting chapters:

1) The man who lived at Clapham
2) The man with the canine teeth
3) The man who died twice
4) The man who hated Amelia Jones
5) The man who hated earthworms
6) The man who loved music
7) The man who was acquitted
8) The man who was happy
9) The man who was plucked
10) The man who would not speak

Manfred and Gonsalez at their best, and this book surely must have been the one which inspired Agatha Christie to move to Torquay!

All in all, strongly recommended!
