Product Description

First screened as part of Channel 4's legendary music show The Tube, in 1987, The Laughing Prisoner was a brilliantly authentic spoof on the ultimate cult series, The Prisoner.

Written by Stephen Fry and Tube presenter, musician and lifelong Prisoner aficionado Jools Holland, the film stars Jools as 'Prisoner Number Seven', a successful TV presenter who gives it all up... only to find himself in the Village facing his indefatigable interrogator, Number Two: Stephen Fry. Also taking part are Fry's partner in comedy Hugh Laurie and Sir Stanley Unwin. Featuring extensive clips of Patrick McGoohan as Number Six, The Laughing Prisoner was filmed in Portmeirion and features on-location performances from Siouxsie and the Banshees, XTC and Magnum.

4.0 out of 5 stars WHAT IS GOING ON AMAZON 31 Dec 2013
Format:DVD
First of all I recorded this many many years ago on vhs and my mother, god rest her soul taped over it.I was not pleased,in the years since I have never seen it repeated, even buying some ropey old pirate copy as it was better than nothing...JUST!.I saw this listed on amazon OVER a year ago with a release date of 31st Dec 2013.Guess what, here we are, still not available. Why in gods name amazon did you ever list it.

If they get round to releasing it its a quirky 60 mins roughly of self confessed fan of the Prisoner Jools Hollland doing a spoof of the series. Also starring Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and the incomprehensible Stanley Unwin. Also footage of the much missed and great Patrick Mcgoohan.

There are also 3 music videos filmed at Portmeirion by XTC,Magnum and an excellent filming of Siouxsie and the Banshees singing "The passenger"

I love this show even for the shot of Jools Holland flicking the V sign as "Rover" goes by him.

Lets hope they release this soon, its only taken 27 years so far.

Yes I know I have reviewed something that isnt out yet so if you are going to moan about it I suggest you get a life instead.
