Product Description

Mark Lane tried the only U.S. court case in which the jurors concluded that the CIA plotted the murder of President Kennedy, but there was always a missing piece: How did the CIA control cops and secret service agents on the ground in Dealey Plaza? How did federal authorities prevent the House Select Committee on Assassinations from discovering the truth about the complicity of the CIA? Now, New York Times best-selling author Mark Lane tells all in this explosive new book with exclusive new interviews, sworn testimony, and meticulous new research (including interviews with Oliver Stone, Dallas Police deputy sheriffs, Robert K. Tanenbaum, and Abraham Bolden) Lane finds out first hand exactly what went on the day JFK was assassinated. Lane includes sworn statements given to the Warren Commission by a police officer who confronted a man who he thought was the assassin. The officer testified that he drew his gun and pointed it at the suspect who showed Secret Service ID. Yet, the Secret Service later reported that there were no Secret Service agents on foot in Dealey Plaza. The Last Word proves that the CIA, operating through a secret small group, prepared all credentials for Secret Service agents in Dallas for the two days that Kennedy was going to be there conclusive evidence of the CIA s involvement in the assassination.

I read this book in 2 sittings-its fun, informative, provocative, revealing and written with real style.
He makes his case as effectively as always drawing together in one many of his former studies and threads.
I would like to add to this review in due course and am placing it now in case there are readers who arent sure whether or not to buy.
Mr Lane retains his clarity, his depth, his honesty and his real sense of injustice.Above all one gets the sense of the remarkable human being of real warmth, compassion and great legal professionalism who is Mark Lane-a richly rewarding experience

A force to be reckoned with, but some hyperbole 23 Nov 2011
By Dennis R. Wilkins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have always respected Mark Lane and his writing. He is very good at what he does, and his JFK books are nothing short of awesome. This one is no exception. People have said other things, so I'll do 3 good, 3 bad observations. Make no mistake, EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK. But go in with eyes open. First, the really good:

1) This is a book for every level of JFK assassination knowledge, from total novice to full-on conspiracy theorist. Clearly written, fun, not bogged down with too many footnotes, it is an easier read than most JFK assassination books. Yet, it has some new information, like Mr. Lane's relationship with forming the House Select Committee on Assassinations and how the HSCA blew their mandate and screwed up.

2) The MK/ULTRA stuff was not weighty and seemed appropriate and necessary for the discussion of how the CIA killedJFK. It was also done quickly enough that it didn't get bogged down, yet it contributed greatly to his points.

3) He cites to a number of other works, all good, that further the discussion, and expands on the clear deficiencies of the Warren Report, which he seems to have memorized. The first half of the book is well footnoted, yet not too much to bog it down.

Now the not so good:

1) Those wonderful footnotes disappear halfway through the book. He makes a number of assertions that, although I know them to be documented elsewhere and easily proven (though requiring some discussion and citations), that have zero footnotes. He also cites to woefully too few other fine books out there that prove his points. It leaves the impression that Mark Lane has not read some of the better books from the last 20 years, which might be the case. This hurts his credibility when he complains, correctly, about Bugliosi's deceitful footnotes in Rewriting (sic) History. This also gives readers new to the genre that he is hiding something, which he isn't.

2) Why didn't the great Mark Lane even MENTION the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB)? I have a guess - he is old, he disengaged quite a bit after his civil trial of the JFK case in th 1980s, where he essentially proved that E. Howard Hunt was a liar, and was quite possibly one of JFK's assassins. Mr. Lane documented this trial very well in his last book, Plausible Denial, which us actually a little better than this book. But writers like James Di Eugenio,William Davy, Joan Mellon, and many others have done a great job of integrating what the ARRB added to the field. Likewise the ARRB removed reductions from thousands of documents related to the JFK case and surrounding coverup. Yes, Mark Lane got his own treasure trove of documents through countless contested Freedom of Information Act requests. But the ARRB got a lot if stuff as well, especially otherwise secret stuff that the Warren Commission AND the HSCA hid or screwed up simply ignored.

3) His arrogance is palpable throughout the book. Yes, he was the first publisher of Warren criticism. Yes, he wa the first Warren critic of importance, and he even testified before the Warren Commission. He has earned his place. But it wears thin at times, and his Pollyanna idealism gets in the way of a better product. The sense of moral outrage is real, but it gets a little heavy t times.

I cannot recommend thus book strongly enough. It is an excellent and concise summary of the case with an excellent integration of what has happened since. It is also very personal, detailing how the CIA tried, unsuccessfully, to silence him. His clarion call to action will hopefully find a new audience with the 99% movement.

FANTASTIC! GET THIS A.S.A.P.! THE KENNEDY DETAIL DEBUNKED! 26 Oct 2011
By Vince Palamara - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Attorney Mark Lane thoroughly destroys Gerald Blaine & Lisa McCubbin's book "The Kennedy Detail": on the merit of this alone, every person who purcashed and/ or read that book needs to read this as the antidote. Lane saves his best JFK work for last with his appropriately titled tome "The Last Word", a book that joins Jim Douglass "JFK & The Unspeakable" and Douglas Horne's 5-volume series "Inside The Assassination Records Review Board" in the "holy troika" of essential, must-read (and own) Kennedy assassination books. Lane skillfully takes apart Vincent Bugliosi's magnum opus on the Oswald-did-it side entitled "Reclaiming History" and, most of all, Gerald Blaine's fraudulent "JFK-told-us-not-to" book "The Kennedy Detail"---for the latter, Lane used my research materials, for which I am most grateful. In addition, Lane adds further credibility to the tale of former Secret Service Agent Abraham Bolden and his book "The Echo From Dealey Plaza." It never ceases to amaze me how much great literature and research has come forth in the last 5-10 years. Mark Lane's book "The Last Word" adds to his legacy greatly. Get this one asap---Bugliosi, Blaine, and the CIA have a lot to answer for! Highly recommended; fantastic!

Great Book! A Must Read!!! 2 Nov 2011
By Cecil Small - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
What a treat, another great book from Mark Lane, after all these years. He exposes more true flakes and criminals involved in JFK: Phillips, Bugliosi, Robert Blakey, Posner, Howard Hunt, Nixon, CIA, Wesley Liebeler, Arlen Specter, David Belin,LBJ, Gerald Ford, George Bush Sr, the warren ommission, Sidney Gottlieb, Ed Clarke...
Hopefully this is not Mark Lane's last word on JFK because there are many Americans who would like to see LBJ, Hoover, the CIA, and all the Texas lawyers and businessmen who were complicit in the JFK assassination exposed BIG TIME. Especially Texas lawyers Ed Clark and Don Thomas. Also, Mark Lane should add the books Me and Lee by Judyth Vary Baker, Files on JFK by Wim Dankbaar, and Blood Money and Power by Barr McClellan to his evidence. It's pretty certain that Malcomb Wallace, BERNARD BARKER/James Files, Chuck Nicoletti, Billy Seymour(Oswald double), and Roscoe White were the main shooters; lets not beat around the bush any more. Mark Lane makes it clear, correctly so, that the fake Secret Service ID's facilitated these shooters escape.
The walkie talkie communication (the plaza up to Ruth Ann Martinez(radio operator) on the 6th floor needs to be discussed more; a CIA tech guy has admitted to setting these up; with antennas attached to the operators legs; and a communications hub at Jaggars-Chiles-Stovall...
LBJ and Hoover are frying in hell for signing off on this assassination at Clint Murchison's the night before, Oh, and Nixon, of course, amoung others.
A GREAT BOOK BY MARK LANE.
Hoover and LBJ and Nixon need to have their names stripped off all public monuments, buildings, foundations, libraries, etc; be exposed, big time, and the CIA needs to be re-chartered, with a more civil and peaceful oriented direction to accommodate our shrinking world.
FOR THOSE OF US WHO LIVED THROUGH THIS AWFULL ASSASSINATION, THERE WILL NEVER BE A LAST WORD ON IT, NEVER.
GREAT BOOK.

NEWS BULLETIN: LEE OSWALD WAS NOT A BAD GUY; HE NEVER KILLED ANYONE IN HIS LIFE; HE WAS A U.S. MILITARY INTELLIGENCE SPY, NOT A KILLER. THE CIA HAD OPERATIVES, WHO HAD KILLED MUTILPLE TIMES, POSITIONED ALL OVER DEALEY PLAZA. COME ON...FIGURE IT OUT AMERICA! COME ON!! WAKE UP!!! LEE OSWALD PUT ON HIS SEMPER FI RING, FOLLOWED CIA ORDERS (HOWEVER MISGUIDED), AND DID HIS DUTY TO THE TRAGIC END. HE DID WHAT HE WAS ORDERED TO DO; FOR FEAR OF HIS OWN LIFE, AND THAT OF HIS WIFE, KIDS, AND FRIENDS. HE WAS A GOOD MAN; HE TRUSTED THAT HIS COUNTRY WOULD RESCUE HIM, RIGHT TO THE END. AND WHAT DID HIS COUNTRY DO? THEY CONSIDERED HIM EXPENDABLE, AND KILLED(SILENCED) HIM. HE TRIED TO WARN THE FBI OF THE ASSASSINATION, AND HE WAS IGNORED. LEE OSWALD WAS A HERO, LIKE IT OR NOT, AND THAT'S A FACT.

CIA HITMEN: ROSCOE WHITE, JAMES FILES, MALCOLM WALLACE, OZZIE, AND MOB HITMAN CHUCK NICOLETTI KILLED JOHN F. KENNEDY.
CIA HITMEN: GARY MARLOW, AND ROSCOE WHITE KILLED J.D. TIPPIT IN A CIA 'NEED TO KNOW' SCREW-UP, ORCHESTRATED BY DAVID ATLEE PHILLIPS AND ED LANSDALE.

THE LESSON HERE IS THAT IF WE CONTINUE TO HAVE AN AGENCY (CIA), FUNCTIONING BEHIND THE SCENES, WITH 'THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS' PHILOSOPHY, EVENTUALLY IT WILL BE YOU THAT GETS IT, OR, THAT'S RIGHT (VERY GOOD) ME. IF THEY WILL KILL OUR PRESIDENT, YOU AND I, ARE NOTHIN BUT CHOPPED LIVER.
